(I'm honestly not sure why the writeup felt the need to add that detail, how the humans are spread thin, or why they need to talk about how the turians are having logistics issues, just because they need to ship in all of their food. They sent probes armed with nuclear fusion warheads into turian territory, just so their tech wouldn't get captured, they did data extractions, they beat unthinkable odds, and of course they were spread thin, because clearly that is the only way how they ever could lose against the perfidious aliens. Humans thought for some time they might have encountered the Protheans. The turians were less than enthused by that outcome. Some hothead shot at the humans, the humans fled, came back with a fleet and stomped the turian ships. Going by the wiki summary of the First Contact War, the turians didn't just go right ahead and rush there. That also seems to draw endless works where the humans get something else added to them for the express purpose of curbstomping the Minbari right back, because how dare they have been better than humans, or something.įor Mass Effect in particular, I also find it rather telling that everyone always seems to focus on Shanxi.
I always felt it was basically the Minbari situation from Babylon 5 all over again.
